Liu Xing — the star behind STAROMAP

Xing (星) means star in Chinese. STAROMAP carries its founder’s name — and his map of Chinese aromatic plants.

With more than twenty years in China’s cosmetics industry, specialising in marketing and product development, Liu Xing has built close connections with global and local clients and suppliers, and stays current through regular participation in cosmetic-ingredient trade shows.

He is now launching a venture to introduce Chinese botanical cosmetic ingredients to the world.

The Name

What is STAROMAP?

China’s plant diversity is as abundant as stars. Every plant is a star. Just as stars build constellations and galaxies to form a cosmic map, plants spread all over China — each region with unique varieties, each with its own beauty, colour and scent.

STAROMAP means the map of Chinese aromatic plants. We introduce global personal care brands to Chinese botanical culture, regional plant characteristics and their benefits, supporting the worldwide personal care sector.

Lipophilic actives, captured at their source

We collaborate with researchers at Zhejiang Chinese Medical University on Chinese herbal research using supercritical extraction.

Conventional herbal extracts are mostly water-soluble, yet skin shows better affinity to lipophilic substances. Supercritical extraction captures the most valuable lipophilic active ingredients, delivering better skincare benefits.

It also preserves each plant’s natural aroma — comparable to the authentic original flavour valued in traditional Chinese cuisine.

The Mission

Bridging Chinese botanicals and the world

China is rich in botanical resources with a time-honoured herbal tradition. For millennia, people have relied on these herbs for food and wellness.

Yet gaps in language and understanding between China and Western nations hinder the global recognition of traditional Chinese herbs. STAROMAP exists to close that gap.
